Embassy Suites Anaheim South

We’ve just got back from a lovely holiday in California so time for some more blog posts to tell you all about it as I get around to processing the photographs to go with them!

We stayed in the Embassy Suites Anaheim South, which is a Hilton hotel in Garden Grove, Orange County and South of Los Angeles.  The hotel was really nice, and quite reasonably priced.

View across to the crystal cathedral and mountains beyondWe paid for a Deluxe King Suite which was  made up of a good sized bedroom, living area with sofa, dining table and kitchenette, and a bathroom.  Ours was on the 14th (top) floor of the hotel, which was a great choice as we had a wonderful view over Orange County across towards the stadium, Crystal Cathedral and on to the mountains.

A breakfast buffet was included in the price – you had a choice of fresh fruit, cereals, porridge, pancakes, cooked things like bacon, eggs and sausages, toast, yoghurt, doughnuts and muffins.  I became rather fond of pancakes with fresh bananas!  Thursday night and Friday morning seemed to be when you got school parties staying and so those morning were busy at breakfast but there was always plenty of room to sit and things to eat, even if you did have to wait a little longer in line.

Stef swimmingAfter breakfast we enjoyed a quick swim in the pool and sit in the jacuzzi every morning.  It was a good time to do so and we had the place to ourselves!  We used the pool in the afternoons too, but it did get a bit busier once everyone had returned from wherever they had been out for the day.

View from outside our roomInside the middle of the hotel was an indoor courtyard area, which is where the restaurant was.  It was all made up like a rain forest complete with real waterfall.  There were fish in the pools and some turtles that enjoyed sitting on the rocks.  On top of the waterfall was a (fake) lion that roared and bared his teeth every hour on the hour!

Pretty street lined with flowersThe hotel itself is really well situated, especially as it is about a mile and a half walk to the Disney resort.  It saved us money in parking fees and petrol being able to walk out places.  And the walk was lovely as all along the pavements were lined with lilies which smelt beautiful and at night the trees were all lit up with fairly lights.

Overall the hotel was well positioned, friendly and well set up for families or indeed anyone and I’d recommend it.
